The English Language and Communication Program provides a range of courses and workshops throughout the year to help develop and enhance students' advanced academic English language and scientific communication skills.
We have a mandatory course (Academic English Language Communication) available to some students and optional course and workshops available to all:
Optional Courses & Workshops
These courses and workshops offer practical instruction and guidance across all areas of English language communication, equipping students with the relevant language competence and skills to more confidently and effectively undertake the required study and research tasks at a postgraduate level university.
Mandatory AELC Course
In addition to optional enrolment, MS/PhD students who have a lower language entry-proficiency level (below IELTS 7.0/TOEFL 91 or equivalent) are required to take a mandatory language course (Academic English Language Communication AELC) which should be completed within a student's first year at KAUST and ideally during the first semester of a student's arrival on campus.
